We are pleased to announce that Christine W. Hartmann, PhD has received a VA Research Career Scientist Award! This designation is awarded after competitive peer review to established, independent investigators who have distinguished themselves through scientific achievements and contributions to the VA research program. Dr. Hartmann conducts critical research on improving the quality of nursing home care, including working with staff to build high-functioning, relationship-based teams that focus on providing high-quality individualized care. She has worked closely with operations to translate research into practice at VA. Dr. Hartmann is the Co-Director of VA Community Living Centers' (CLC) Ongoing National Center for Enhancing Resources and Training (CONCERT). CONCERT represents a strong operations-research partnership and a step forward on the path to achieving VA's priorities for an engaged workforce in a learning health care organization with top-quality service and highly reliable, person-centered care. Her research grant portfolio as principal investigator, with funding from the Department of Veterans Affairs and the National Institutes of Health, totals over $15 million. In addition to being an investigator at CHOIR, Dr. Hartmann is a Research Professor at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. She is also a member of the VA HSR&D National Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Workgroup. Dr. Hartmann is a mentor for several CHOIR investigators and post-doctoral fellows.
